Description:
Plants arborescent. Stem 5 m tall, 40 cm diam.
Leaves dark grey green, dull, 80-160 cm long, keeled or flat (not keeled) in section (opposing leaflets inserted at 120-180° on rachis), with 150-260 leaflets; basal leaflets reducing to spines, petiole spine-free for 5-20 cm.
Leaflets narrowly lanceolate, not falcate, inserted at 45° to rachis, overlapping downwards; margins flat, dentate; median leaflets 7-12 cm long, 8-10 mm wide.
Pollen cones narrowly ovoid, green or pale brown, 20-30 cm long, 7-8 cm diam.
Seed cones ovoid, pale brown, 35-45 cm long, 15-20 cm diam.
Seeds ovoid, 30-40 mm long, 25-35 mm wide, sarcotesta cream or white.
